About Steel Town Music Steel Town Music has been open since 2005, at what we were told by many, the worst time of year to open. We had the basics in place and just wanted to get cracking. At first there was very little in the shop and it was hard to keep people occupied for more than a quick glance. Now the shop is full of stock, from top to bottom and people can clearly see what we are about and how we can help them. The owner, Ged, didn't know the first thing about how to open a shop, nor did anyone else in the family but we knew that Consett needed a music shop as there was no local fix for a snapped string.
For years now we have had to travel to town for the day to simply get strings or sticks. Often having to pay over-priced parking only to walk miles, to get around. Ged being a dad to two sons, one of which played guitar, the other a drummer and both in punk rock bands wanted to incorporate his own and his sons interests into the business.
As we expand the business we are continuously learning the trade and believe a friendly service is the key. We are always keen to help with any needs you may have or happy for you to pop by for a bit of musical banter. This is an easy going shop with easy going people. |
